Riverside Church was formed from a partnership between Ermington Community Church and Carlingford Baptist Church.
Ermington Community Church was founded in 1996 and ministered faithfully in the community for many years. Over a period of time from 2006 the Elders of the Church felt God’s leading to facilitate a new ministry of evangelism, discipleship, and practical assistance within the community.
As the church prayerfully considered this leading, Elders believed that God was directing them to start a completely autonomous church plant; however it was felt that a partnership needed to be formed to help with starting such a ministry. A proposal was presented to Carlingford Baptist Church who caught the vision for the church plant.
In 2008 a core team of about twelve people began meeting to pray and plan for planting a new church in Ermington.
Sunday Services began in 2009, and Riverside Church was officially affiliated with the Baptist Union of NSW/ACT in 2012.
